How to Apply for Thailand Airport Visa Online — Step-by-Step

The Thailand Airport Visa, officially known as the Visa on Arrival (VOA), is one of the most convenient entry options for Nepali travelers visiting Thailand for short stays. To make the process faster and more efficient, the Royal Thai Government introduced the Electronic Visa on Arrival (E-VOA) system, allowing travelers to complete all visa formalities online before arriving at the airport. This service, managed by VFS Global in coordination with the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, has simplified visa processing at major airports like Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), Phuket (HKT), and Chiang Mai (CNX). Nepali citizens who meet the eligibility criteria can now obtain their visa pre-approved through the official portal https://thailandevoa.vfsevisa.com.

The online process for applying for a Thailand E-VOA is simple and can be completed within a few minutes. First, applicants must visit the official E-VOA website, register for an account, and select Nepal as their nationality. After selecting the airport of arrival, travelers need to fill out the online visa form with accurate personal information, including full name, passport number, flight details, intended travel dates, and hotel address in Thailand. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Once the form is completed, applicants must upload all required documents, such as a recent passport-size photograph (white background), a scanned copy of the passport’s bio page, a confirmed round-trip flight ticket, a hotel booking confirmation, and proof of sufficient funds showing at least THB 10,000 for individuals or THB 20,000 for families.

After uploading the documents, applicants proceed to pay the visa fee online. The fee for the Thailand Visa on Arrival for Nepali citizens is THB 2,000, payable by debit or credit card through the secure VFS payment system. Once the application is submitted and payment confirmed, travelers will receive an E-VOA pre-approval letter via email within 24 to 72 hours. This document must be printed and presented at the airport’s Visa on Arrival counter upon arrival in Thailand.

When travelers reach their selected airport, they should proceed directly to the E-VOA immigration counter, where officers will verify their documents and pre-approval letter. The process is quick and usually takes less than 10 minutes. Once approved, the traveler’s passport will be stamped with the Thailand Visa on Arrival, allowing a maximum stay of 15 days in the country. The visa is single entry only and cannot be extended. If travelers plan to stay longer than 15 days, they must apply for a tourist visa or business visa in advance at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu.

For Nepali citizens who find the online form confusing or who want guaranteed accuracy, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Nepal’s most trusted visa and travel assistance agency, provides complete Thailand E-VOA support — from document checking and digital form submission to embassy coordination and travel preparation. The agency also assists Nepalis residing abroad with visa applications for over 70 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and China.
