Malaysia e-Visa for Nepali Citizens – Online Process & Entry Requirements

The Malaysia e-Visa system offers Nepali citizens an easy and fully online way to apply for a short-term visa for tourism, visiting friends or relatives, or attending business meetings. Instead of visiting the embassy in person, Nepali travelers can submit their visa applications through the official Malaysian Immigration Department portal (malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my) and receive an electronic visa (PDF) via email once approved.
To apply, the applicant must have a valid Nepali passport with at least six months of remaining validity and two blank pages. Required documents include a passport-sized photo, a scanned copy of the passport’s bio-data page, confirmed flight bookings, and proof of hotel accommodation. Applicants also need to provide a bank statement or proof of financial means showing sufficient funds to cover travel expenses. In cases of visiting friends or family, an invitation letter with the inviter’s details in Malaysia is recommended.
The visa processing time is usually between 2 to 7 working days, depending on the completeness of documents and the immigration office’s workload. The standard government fee for a Malaysian e-Visa is around MYR 126(approximately NPR 3,500–4,000), and additional processing/service fees may apply if applied through authorized agents. Once approved, the e-Visa is sent by email and should be printed before travel.
A Malaysian e-Visa is typically valid for 3 to 6 months, allowing a stay of up to 30 days per entry. It is usually a single-entry visa, meaning travelers can enter Malaysia once during the visa’s validity. Extensions of stay are not allowed under the tourist category.
Before arrival, all travelers must fill out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online, which must be completed within 3 days before entry. At immigration, travelers are required to show their printed e-Visa, return ticket, accommodation proof, and sufficient cash or credit balance for verification.
