Malaysia e-Visa for Medical Treatment – MHTC Hospitals & Procedure for Nepali Patients

Nepali citizens seeking medical care in Malaysia must apply for the Medical e-Visa through the official MYVISA website. The process begins with choosing an MHTC-approved hospital, obtaining a treatment appointment letter, and submitting all documents online. Once approved, patients and up to two companions can travel for 30 days for medical purposes. Following these steps ensures a smooth visa process and access to Malaysia’s high-quality healthcare system.

Malaysia e-Visa for Medical Treatment – MHTC Hospitals & Procedure for Nepali Patients

Malaysia has become a popular destination for international healthcare tourism, known for its advanced hospitals, affordable costs, and world-class facilities. For Nepali citizens seeking specialized treatment in Malaysia, the government of Malaysia allows a dedicated Medical e-Visa category under the MYVISA system(https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my). This visa allows foreign patients and their companions to enter Malaysia for approved medical procedures at hospitals recognized by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).

The MHTC is a government agency established to promote Malaysia as a global healthcare hub. It accredits private hospitals that meet strict international medical standards. Nepali patients must select an MHTC-member hospital, obtain an appointment or confirmation letter, and use it as part of their e-Visa application. Without this hospital-issued letter, the application cannot be processed under the medical category.

Step-by-Step Procedure:

  1. Choose an MHTC-member hospital — You can visit https://www.mhtc.org.my to find certified hospitals such as Prince Court Medical Centre, Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur, KPJ Healthcare, Pantai Hospital, and Sunway Medical Centre.

  2. Get a medical appointment letter — Contact the hospital directly and confirm your appointment. This document is mandatory for your e-Visa.

  3. Prepare the required documents:

    • Valid Nepali passport (minimum 6-month validity).

    • Recent studio photo (white background, 35 × 50 mm).

    • Hospital appointment letter from an MHTC hospital.

    • Return flight ticket and hotel/accommodation proof.

    • Medical reports or diagnosis summary (recommended).

    • Financial proof showing you can pay for treatment and stay.

  4. Apply online: Go to the MYVISA portal, select e-Visa for Medical Treatment, fill in your details, and upload all supporting documents.

  5. Pay the visa fee and processing charge: Standard e-Visa fees apply — RM 20 visa fee + RM 105 processing fee + minor convenience charge (0.8%–1.7% depending on payment method).

  6. Wait for approval: The e-Visa usually takes 2 – 7 working days to process, excluding weekends and Malaysian public holidays.

  7. Travel and enter Malaysia: Bring printed copies of your e-Visa approval note, passport, hospital letter, and medical documents. At immigration, officers may verify your purpose of travel.

  8. Accompanying persons: Up to two companions (spouse, child, or guardian) may accompany the patient, provided their names and relationship are mentioned in the application.

Important Conditions:

  • The Medical e-Visa is single-entry and valid for up to 30 days stay (extendable only with hospital recommendation).

  • Treatment must be conducted strictly at MHTC-accredited institutions.

  • Fees are non-refundable, even if the application is denied or cancelled.

  • The e-Visa does not guarantee entry; the final decision rests with immigration officers.

  • Always travel with complete documents and a clear itinerary.
