बैंकिङ क्षेत्रमा केही समस्या भए पनि वित्तीय प्रणाली कमजोर छैन : अर्थमन्त्री खनाल अर्थमन्त्री रामेश्वर खनालले हाल बैंकिङ तथा वित्तीय क्षेत्रमा केही समस्या देखिए पनि समग्र वित्तीय प्रणाली कमजोर अवस्थामा नरहेको स्पष्ट पारेका छन्। राष्ट्रिय वाणिज्य बैंकको ६१औँ वार्षिकोत्सवका अवसरमा आयोजित कार्यक्रममा बोल्दै अर्थमन्त्री खनालले समय–समयमा विभिन्न कारणले बैंकिङ क्षेत्रमा समस्या देखिनु स्वाभाविक प्रक्रिया भएको बताए। उनले अहिले देखिएका समस्याका कारण वित्तीय क्षेत्र नै कमजोर भएको भन्ने निष्कर्ष निकाल्न नहुने उल्लेख गरे। अर्थमन्त्री खनालका अनुसार हाल केही बैंकहरूको सम्पत्ति तथा कर्जाको गुणस्तरसम्बन्धी परीक्षण (एसेट क्वालिटी रिभ्यु) करिब सम्पन्न हुने चरणमा पुगेको छ। यसले बैंकिङ प्रणालीलाई थप पारदर्शी र सुदृढ बनाउने विश्वास उनले व्यक्त गरे।Financial System Remains Strong Despite Some Banking Sector Issues: Finance Minister Khanal Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal has clarified that although some problems are currently visible in the banking and financial sector, the overall financial system of the country is not weak. According to the latest monthly report of the Public Debt Management Office, public debt rose by Rs132.34 billion between mid-July and mid-January. A major contributor to the rise in debt burden has been the weakening of the Nepali rupee against the US dollar. By mid-January, exchange rate fluctuations alone had added Rs70.68 billion to Nepal’s public debt liability. As Nepal must repay external loan principals in US dollars, a stronger dollar directly increases the country’s debt obligations in rupee terms. Nepal Rastra Bank data show that one US dollar stood at Rs145.76 on Tuesday.

The company has received approval to issue 3.2 million ordinary shares worth NPR 320 million, representing 32.65 percent of its issued capital of NPR 980 million. In the initial phase, the IPO has been made available specifically to locals affected by the project and Nepalis employed overseas. For project-affected local residents, Shikhar Power is issuing IPO shares equivalent to 10 percent of its issued capital, amounting to NPR 98 million. Accordingly, 980,000 ordinary shares with a par value of NPR 100 per share have been allocated for local residents. The company stated that the allocation is based on details outlined in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and the electricity generation license.
