How to Get Invitation Letter for Visiting Friends in Thailand

For Nepali citizens who wish to visit their friends in Thailand, an invitation letter is one of the most essential supporting documents required during the Thailand Visit Visa (Tourist or Non-Immigrant “O”) application process. The invitation letter acts as an official confirmation from a Thai resident—whether a Thai citizen or a legally residing foreigner—inviting the applicant to visit Thailand for a specific period. The Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and the online Thailand eVisa system (www.thaievisa.go.th) both require this document to verify the authenticity of the relationship and the purpose of the visit.

An invitation letter for visiting friends is a formal letter written by the host in Thailand. It must clearly state the relationship between the host and the visitor, the reason for the visit, the duration of the stay, and the accommodation arrangements. The letter must include complete personal details of both the host and the guest, such as full name, nationality, passport number, and contact information. The host must also mention their current address in Thailand, specify the purpose of visit (to meet a close friend for tourism or cultural experience), and include the intended travel period. The host should declare that they will take responsibility for the visitor’s stay and ensure their compliance with Thai laws during the visit.

The letter should be typed in English or Thai language, printed on plain paper, and signed in ink by the host. It must be accompanied by copies of the host’s identification documents — Thai National ID card (for Thai citizens) or passport and valid visa/permit (for foreign residents). If the visitor plans to stay at the host’s residence, the host should also include proof of address, such as a rental contract, house registration certificate (Tabien Baan), or a recent utility bill in their name.

Once prepared, the host in Thailand must scan or photograph the signed invitation letter and email it to the Nepali visitor. The visitor should print the letter and attach it with their visa application documents, including the passport, visa form, financial proof (bank statement), hotel booking (if applicable), and travel itinerary. The letter adds strong credibility to the application, especially when combined with accurate personal and travel information.

To make the letter more convincing, the host and visitor can attach additional supporting materials, such as photos together, chat records, or previous travel history, though these are optional. The key is clarity, accuracy, and authenticity — names, passport numbers, and addresses must match across all documents. Incorrect or incomplete information can delay or reject the visa.

Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., one of Nepal’s leading travel and visa assistance companies, helps applicants prepare, translate, and format invitation letters as per Thai Embassy requirements. The team also assists with document verification, attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and complete visa processing support.
