Government Steps Up Efforts to Revive Hetauda Textile Industry

Hetauda — The government has intensified efforts to bring the long-shuttered Hetauda Textile Industry back into operation, with officials increasing field inspections and preparations for its revival. The state-owned factory has remained closed since 2000 despite several unsuccessful attempts to restart it over the years.

Recent assessments by government agencies indicate that much of the industry's machinery and infrastructure remain in usable condition and could be restored with necessary repairs. Authorities have been reviewing the facility's operational readiness as part of the revival plan.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has also shown renewed interest in the project, with officials conducting site visits and discussions on reopening the factory. The government has stated that it aims to restart the industry during the upcoming fiscal year.

As part of the broader revival initiative, related industries linked to textile production, including yarn and cotton-processing facilities, are also being considered for reactivation. Security and maintenance activities have already been strengthened at the industrial premises, reflecting growing government commitment to the project.
