काठमाडौं – विश्व खाद्य कार्यक्रम (डब्लुएफपी) ले पश्चिम एशियामा अमेरिका, इजरायल र इरानबीच जारी द्वन्द्वका कारण विश्वभर करिब ३२ करोड मानिस भोकमरीको जोखिममा रहेको चेतावनी दिएको छ। युद्धले खाद्य र इन्धन मूल्य वृद्धि गराएको छ र युद्ध जारी रहँदा तथा तेलको मूल्य प्रति ब्यारेल १०० डलर नाघे थप ४ करोड ५० लाख मानिस भोकमरीको चपेटामा पर्न सक्नेछ। डब्लुएफपीले भनेको छ कि सबैभन्दा बढी प्रभाव कमजोर जनसंख्यामा पर्नेछ। इन्धन र ढुवानी खर्च वृद्धिले, अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सहयोग घटेसँगै, राहत कार्य सञ्चालन गर्न चुनौती बढेको छ। युद्ध क्षेत्रभन्दा टाढाका देश जस्तै सोमालिया, केन्या, सुडान र अफगानिस्तानमा खाद्य असुरक्षा बढ्दै गएको छ र लाखौं मानिसलाई पर्याप्त सहयोग पुग्न सकेको छैन। आगामी तीन महिनाका लागि आपतकालीन राहतका लागि डब्लुएफपीले थप ७७ मिलियन अमेरिकी डलर सहयोगको अपिल गरेको छ। Kathmandu – The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that the ongoing conflict in West Asia between the United States, Israel, and Iran has put nearly 320 million people worldwide at risk of hunger. The war has already driven up food and fuel prices and could push an additional 45 million people into hunger if it continues and oil prices exceed $100 per barrel. The WFP highlighted that vulnerable populations will be most affected. Relief operations are already under strain due to rising fuel and transportation costs, reduced international aid, and disrupted supply chains. Countries far from the conflict, such as Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, and Afghanistan, are also experiencing worsening food insecurity, with millions unable to receive adequate aid. The WFP has appealed for an additional $77 million to support emergency food assistance over the next three months.
