The company had launched the public issue after completing the allotment process for Nepalis working abroad in the first phase. Following the distribution of shares to migrant workers, the company moved to the second phase by issuing shares to the general public. This step marks an important milestone in the company’s effort to expand its ownership base and raise capital from domestic investors. Hotel Forest Inn had received approval from the Securities Board of Nepal to issue 40 lakh ordinary shares worth Rs. 400 million, representing 20 percent of its issued capital of Rs. 2 billion. Out of this, 4 lakh shares were allotted to Nepalis working overseas, 2 lakh shares to mutual funds, and 80,000 shares to company employees. The remaining 33.2 lakh shares, worth Rs. 332 million at a face value of Rs. 100 per share, have been issued to the general public. Investors can apply for a minimum of 10 shares and a maximum of 200,000 shares under the current offering.

As part of the development process, the Ministry of Forests and Environment has begun preparing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report. The project is being proposed by Myardi Khola Hydropower Company Pvt. Ltd. It is designed as a run-of-river type project, which will generate electricity by utilizing the natural flow of the river without creating a large reservoir. The project is expected to produce an average of 173.44 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. Electricity generated from the project will be transmitted through a 10-kilometer-long 132 kV transmission line. It will be connected to the 220 kV Manang hub located in Dharapani before being integrated into the national transmission grid for distribution across the country.

The report reflects growing challenges in Nepal’s microfinance sector, particularly related to loan quality and risk management. During the review period, the company earned a net profit of NPR 105.9 million. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, it had recorded a profit of NPR 118.3 million. This represents a decline of around 10.51 percent, indicating pressure on overall profitability. Despite the fall in profit, the company’s net interest income increased significantly. By mid-Poush, net interest income reached NPR 487.6 million, up from NPR 350.7 million last year. This growth of nearly 39 percent suggests that the company has expanded its lending activities and improved interest collection. Similarly, total operating income rose to NPR 521.8 million from NPR 392.1 million in the previous year. This marks an increase of around 33 percent, reflecting stronger operational performance and higher revenue generation from core business activities.

The company is moving to the public phase after successfully completing share allocation for project-affected locals, Nepalis working abroad, and mutual funds. Earlier, the company had received approval from the Nepal Securities Board to issue 20 percent of its issued capital through an IPO. This amounts to 3.1 million shares worth NPR 310 million, based on its issued capital of NPR 1.55 billion. Out of the approved shares, 1.55 million units were allocated to local residents of the project-affected area, 155,000 units to Nepalis working overseas, and 77,500 units to mutual funds. These shares have already been distributed in the earlier phases. In the second phase, the company has reserved 31,000 shares for its employees. The remaining 1,286,500 shares, worth NPR 128.65 million at a face value of NPR 100 per share, will now be offered to the general public. Investors can apply for a minimum of 10 shares and a maximum of 100,000 shares. The application deadline has been set for Falgun 10. If all shares are not subscribed within this period, the closing date will be extended until Falgun 19, according to the company.

Issuing a directive on Friday, NEPSE asked listed companies and registrar firms to ensure that information related to dividends of shares, mutual funds, and debenture holdings is delivered through electronic means. The move is aimed at improving transparency and strengthening communication with investors. According to NEPSE, companies and mutual funds must now send dividend details via email and SMS. The message should clearly mention the stock symbol, the fiscal year for which the dividend is being distributed, and the dividend rate and percentage. This requirement is expected to help investors receive accurate and timely information about their returns. In the case of debenture holders, NEPSE has directed issuers to include the security symbol, relevant fiscal year, and applicable interest rate in the digital notification. This provision ensures that fixed-income investors are also kept well informed about their earnings.

During the first six months of the last fiscal year, the company had earned NPR 315 million in operating income. However, in the same period of the current fiscal year, its income dropped drastically to just NPR 42.4 million. This steep fall reflects weakening operational performance and reduced utilization of storage facilities. According to the company, the decline in revenue is mainly due to rising payment demands for grains stored in silos, which has reduced stock levels. In addition, the warehouse receipt system has not been implemented effectively and on time, limiting the company’s ability to generate expected income. As a result, key revenue sources have remained under pressure.

छ महिनामा १,५२० ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता, विवाद पनि बढ्दैTrademark Registrations Surge in First Six Months, Disputes Also Rise

छ महिनामा १,५२० ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता, जुदाइसम्बन्धी विवाद पनि बढ्दै चालु आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/०८३ को पहिलो छ महिनामा नेपालमा १ हजार ५ सयभन्दा बढी ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता भएका छन्। साउनदेखि पौष मसान्तसम्म कुल १ हजार ५२० वटा ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता भएको उद्योग विभाग ले जनाएको छ। विभागका सूचना अधिकारी सुरेश दाहाल का अनुसार पौष महिनामा मात्रै ५०४ वटा ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता भएका हुन्। हालसम्म देशभर कुल ७० हजार ३३५ वटा ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता भइसकेका छन्। चालु आर्थिक वर्षको अन्त्यसम्ममा यो संख्या ७३ हजार ८१५ पुर्‍याउने लक्ष्य विभागले लिएको छ। पछिल्लो समय व्यापारिक गतिविधि विस्तार हुँदै जाँदा ट्रेडमार्क दर्ताप्रति उद्यमी र व्यवसायीहरूको चासो बढ्दै गएको देखिन्छ। नयाँ व्यवसाय, ब्रान्ड र सेवाको पहिचान स्थापित गर्न ट्रेडमार्क अनिवार्यजस्तै बन्दै गएपछि दर्ता संख्या पनि निरन्तर बढिरहेको विभागको भनाइ छ। तर ट्रेडमार्क दर्तासँगै जुदाइ तथा विवादका घटना पनि बढ्न थालेका छन्। समान वा उस्तै प्रकृतिका ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता भएको भन्दै विभागमा सयौं उजुरी परेका छन्। तीमध्ये हालसम्म ४३ वटा उजुरीको फैसला भइसकेको छ भने दुईवटा मुद्दाको निर्णय पौष महिनामै गरिएको थियो। विभागका अनुसार कुनै फर्म, कम्पनी वा व्यक्तिले आफ्नो उत्पादन वा सेवालाई अरूको उत्पादन तथा सेवाबाट फरक देखाउन प्रयोग गर्ने शब्द, चिन्ह, चित्र वा तिनको संयोजनलाई ट्रेडमार्क भनिन्छ। नेपालमा ट्रेडमार्क दर्ता पेटेन्ट डिजायन र ट्रेडमार्क ऐन २०२२ अनुसार गरिन्छ।Trademark Registrations Surge in First Six Months, Disputes Also Rise More than 1,500 trademarks have been registered in Nepal during the first six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, reflecting growing interest in brand protection among businesses. According to the Department of Industry, a total of 1,520 trademarks were registered between Shrawan and the end of Poush. Information Officer Suresh Dahal said that registrations have increased significantly in recent months. He noted that 504 trademarks were registered in Poush alone, indicating rising awareness among entrepreneurs about the importance of protecting their brands. With these new registrations, the total number of trademarks registered in Nepal has now reached 70,335. The Department has set a target to increase this figure to 73,815 by the end of the current fiscal year. Officials believe the steady rise reflects expanding business activities and growing competition in the market. Experts say the trend shows that more companies and individuals are focusing on building unique brand identities. As new startups, products, and services enter the market, trademark registration is increasingly viewed as a necessary step to secure legal ownership and market recognition.

Weak credit demand, slowing economic activities, and limited lending opportunities in productive sectors have led to a large volume of idle funds piling up in banks and financial institutions. As businesses remain cautious and investment activities slow down, banks have struggled to channel their surplus funds into loans. This has resulted in a widening gap between deposits and credit, increasing pressure on the financial system. Economists warn that prolonged excess liquidity could weaken the effectiveness of monetary policy and limit economic recovery. With liquidity rising sharply, the interbank interest rate has fallen to as low as 2.75 percent. To prevent rates from falling below the lower limit of the interest rate corridor, the Nepal Rastra Bank has been continuously withdrawing money from the market. As part of this effort, the central bank has announced plans to absorb NPR 50 billion for 42 days through a deposit auction.

नागरिक लगानी कोषको नाफा ६.९२ प्रतिशतले वृद्धि, खुद नाफा ६६ करोड नाघ्यो नागरिक लगानी कोष (सीआईटी) ले चालु आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/८३ को दोस्रो त्रैमाससम्म ६६ करोड ५३ लाख रुपैयाँ खुद नाफा आर्जन गरेको छ। कोषको नाफा गत आर्थिक वर्षको सोही अवधिको तुलनामा ६.९२ प्रतिशतले वृद्धि भएको हो। अघिल्लो आर्थिक वर्षको दोस्रो त्रैमाससम्म कोषले ६२ करोड २२ लाख रुपैयाँ नाफा कमाएको थियो। समीक्षा अवधिमा कोषको कुल आम्दानी १ अर्ब ६ करोड रुपैयाँ पुगेको छ, जुन गत वर्षको सोही अवधिको तुलनामा २.८६ प्रतिशतले बढी हो। अघिल्लो वर्ष यस अवधिसम्म कोषको कुल आम्दानी १ अर्ब ३ करोड रुपैयाँ रहेको थियो। यस अवधिमा सेवा शुल्क तथा कमिसन आम्दानीमा वृद्धि भएपछि कोषको नाफामा सुधार आएको देखिएको छ। सेवा शुल्क तथा कमिसन आम्दानी ८१ करोड १ लाख रुपैयाँबाट बढेर ८३ करोड ९४ लाख रुपैयाँ पुगेको छ। तर खुद ब्याज आम्दानी भने १९ करोड ३३ लाख रुपैयाँबाट घटेर १७ करोड ३६ लाख रुपैयाँमा सीमित भएको छ।Citizen Investment Trust’s Profit Rises by 6.92%, Net Profit Reaches NPR 665.3 Million Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) has recorded a net profit of NPR 665.3 million by the end of the second quarter of the current fiscal year 2082/83. This reflects a 6.92 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, when the Trust had earned NPR 622.2 million. During the review period, the Trust’s total income reached NPR 1.06 billion, marking a 2.86 percent rise from NPR 1.03 billion in the corresponding period last year. The improvement in profit has mainly been driven by growth in service fees and commission income. Such income increased from NPR 810.1 million to NPR 839.4 million. However, net interest income declined from NPR 193.3 million to NPR 173.6 million during the same period.

Due to the global price surge, the local gold rate rose by NPR 9,500 per tola, crossing the NPR 300,000 mark once again. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold (hallmarked gold) is being traded at NPR 300,500 per tola on Sunday. On the previous trading day, Friday, gold was traded at NPR 291,000 per tola, after dropping by NPR 4,200. Silver prices also recorded an increase. On Sunday, silver rose by NPR 300 per tola to reach NPR 5,010 per tola, as reported by the association. On Friday, silver was traded at NPR 4,710 per tola.

नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकका अनुसार चालू आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/८३ को पहिलो छ महिनामा बैंक तथा वित्तीय संस्थाहरूको निक्षेप ४ खर्ब १७ अर्ब ४८ करोड रुपैयाँले बढेर ७६ खर्ब ८१ अर्ब ३५ करोड रुपैयाँ पुगेको छ। यो ५.७ प्रतिशतको वृद्धि हो। यस अवधिमा निजी क्षेत्रतर्फ प्रवाहित कर्जा १ खर्ब ९७ अर्ब ४७ करोड रुपैयाँले बढेर ५६ खर्ब ९५ अर्ब १७ करोड रुपैयाँ पुगेको छ। कर्जा मुख्यतया गैरवित्तीय संस्था र घरपरिवार क्षेत्रमा गएको छ। उपभोग, निर्माण, यातायात र उद्योग क्षेत्रमा कर्जा बढेको छ भने कृषि क्षेत्रमा कमी आएको छ। समग्रमा बैंकिङ क्षेत्रमा तरलता र कर्जा प्रवाह क्रमशः सुधार हुँदै गएको देखिएको छ।According to Nepal Rastra Bank, deposits in Nepal’s banks and financial institutions increased by NPR 417.48 billion in the first six months of the fiscal year 2082/83, reaching NPR 7.68 trillion. This represents a growth of 5.7 percent. During the same period, private sector credit rose by NPR 197.47 billion to NPR 5.69 trillion. Most loans were directed toward non-financial institutions and households, with housing and real estate loans remaining dominant. Credit increased in sectors such as consumption, construction, transport, and industry, while agricultural lending declined.
