The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 18.40 points to close at 2,487 points, marking its lowest level since mid-October last year. The persistent weakness reflects investors’ growing caution amid uncertainty about market stability and policy direction. The NEPSE index has been falling steadily over the past several weeks. With buying pressure weakening and investors preferring to stay on the sidelines, the overall market mood has turned defensive. Out of 251 traded companies, the prices of 45 advanced, 197 declined, and 9 remained unchanged. The overwhelming number of declining stocks dragged the overall index into the red once again, extending the market’s losing streak and eroding investor confidence further.

१७ निर्माण कम्पनीहरू कालोसूचीमा, सार्वजनिक निर्माणमा सहभागिता प्रतिबन्ध नेपाल सरकारको सार्वजनिक खरिद अनुगमन कार्यालयले देशभरका १७ वटा निर्माण कम्पनीहरूलाई कालोसूचीमा राखेको छ। कार्यालयले बिहीबार सूचना जारी गर्दै ती कम्पनीहरूलाई एकदेखि दुई वर्षसम्मका लागि कालोसूचीमा राखिएको जानकारी दिएको हो। कार्यालयका अनुसार ती कम्पनीहरूले सम्झौता उल्लङ्घन, निर्माण कार्य समयमा सम्पन्न नगरेको, वा कार्य सम्पूर्ण रूपमा सम्पन्न नगरेको कारण कारबाही गरिएको हो। सार्वजनिक खरिद ऐन, २०६३ को दफा ६३(१) बमोजिम ती कम्पनीहरूलाई कालोसूचीमा राखिएको जनाइएको छ।17 Construction Companies Blacklisted by the Government The Government of Nepal has blacklisted 17 construction companies for failing to comply with contract agreements and delays in project completion. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers issued a notice on Thursday announcing the decision. According to the PPMO, these companies have been blacklisted for a period ranging from one to two years under Section 63(1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 (2006) for violating contract terms, not completing construction work on time, or failing to complete assigned projects.

According to the corporation, the prices of diesel and kerosene remain unchanged. As per the new rate, the retail price of petrol has been fixed at Rs. 159 per liter in Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and Dipayal, Rs. 158 in Surkhet and Dang, and Rs. 156.50 in other parts of the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, IPPAN President Ganesh Karki stated that 43 hydropower companies with a combined capacity of 975 MW have not been able to issue their Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), while 7 companies have been unable to issue their rights shares. According to him, the delay in the timely issuance of securities has prevented the release of Rs. 23.27 billion worth of shares, leading to significant financial loss in the hydropower sector.
