. विश्वनाथ पौडेलले २०८२ जेठ ७ गते नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकको गभर्नरको रूपमा कार्यभार सम्हाले। कार्यभार ग्रहणपछि उनले सार्वजनिक निक्षेपको सुरक्षा र ऋण नीतिको सुधारलाई प्राथमिकता दिने बताए। मौद्रिक नीति वित्तीय नीतिको सहयोगी हुनुपर्ने र बैंकको स्वतन्त्रता जोगाउनुपर्ने उनको भनाइ थियो। उनले नीति संवादमार्फत बनाउने प्रतिबद्धता जनाए। पहिलो निर्णयस्वरूप उनले ५०० र १००० रुपैयाँ दरका नयाँ नोट छपाइको आदेश दिए। कार्यकारी निर्देशक डा. गुणाकर भट्टको राजीनामालाई उनले बैंकको आन्तरिक विषय भने ।Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel officially took office as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on May 21, 2025. In his first address, he emphasized prioritizing the safety of public deposits and reforming loan policies. He stressed that monetary policy should support fiscal policy while preserving central bank independence. Poudel committed to dialogue-based decision-making and enhancing supervisory capacity rather than enforcing stricter rules. His first move was authorizing the printing of new Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes. He also briefly addressed the resignation of Executive Director Dr. Gunakar Bhatt as an internal matter.
